Villa Park : Aston Villa have been playing football at Villa Park since 1897, and the ground hosted England international fixtures as long ago as 1899. Villa Park has often been used as a neutral venue for FA Cup semi-finals, including the famous semi-final replay between Manchester United and Arsenal in 1999.
Villa Park is in Birmingham, the second-largest city in the UK. The ground is situated to the east of the city centre, with easy access to the M6 motorway.
Villa Park currently has a capacity of 43,000, with plans to increase this by an additional 7,000. The ground has a long and proud history of hosting football matches, and would provide a first-class venue for football in 2012.
Aston Villa will return to Villa Park after the Games, and the ground will continue to host major football matches in the UK`s `second city`.
Birmingham`s central location and Villa Park`s proximity to the M6 motorway help make the ground easily accessible to supporters from all over the UK. The ground is also served by Aston train station, which is approximately 10 minutes from Birmingham New Street station.
